MY MUSIC HISTORY by Nigel Smith
I started playing in my first professional band, ‘The Incrowd’, in the 1960’s and spent some time with them in Germany working US army bases.
After being home for a while I went back to Germany to be part of ‘The Pete Lancaster Show’ which was massive in Germany at the time.
My next move was to Ireland with ‘Wheels’, a spin off from ‘Them’ minus Van Morrison. This led to joining ‘Andwella’s Dream’ and the making of three albums for CBS records.
Our live gigs included supporting top names like Joe Cocker, ‘The Nice’ and ‘Yes’ at the famous Marquee Club in London.
In the early 1970’s I stopped playing professionally but continued to gig with local bands, and this led to songwriting with Bob White. Our work included a rock musical, which was performed at The Lace Market Theatre in Nottingham.
We also wrote the Mansfield Town football team song to celebrate their trip to Wembley, but sadly the warehouse burnt down with all the records in it!
I’ve played in several bands up until the present day and teamed up with Sarah Middleton-Woolley in ‘Reflections’.
Through meeting in the band we have also formed a prolific songwriting partnership.
